Original report:
A 29-year-old woman is on the run after escaping a day following her arrest in Westchester.
The Yonkers Police Department is currently and actively searching for 29-year-old Sarah Camarda.
Camarda was arrested Monday evening, Nov. 4 for felony drug possession and was in custody at the Yonkers City Jail located at the Cacace Justice Center awaiting arraignment Tuesday morning, Nov. 5.
Camarda was transported by two police officers to St. Joseph's Hospital located across the street from the Justice Center for medical treatment, Yonkers Police said.
While in the emergency room, Camarda was handcuffed to a gurney, according to police.
Another patient several beds away unrelated to Camarda started to behave in a disorderly manner which escalated to a dispute when he threatened to shoot up the hospital and or doctor causing a commotion, police said.
The officers there requested back-up assistance and intervened to prevent any physical violence. At the same time, Camarda used that opportunity to apparently slip off her handcuffs and leave the hospital at approximately 5:30 p.m.
